re-purposing | DIY

when i first moved to texas, i shopped for decor & bought these framed glass panels that say "life is a song," "hope is the lyrics," and "love is the music." i liked them- at the time. now? not so much. so i've been wanting to get rid of them but i didn't want to just throw them away. so just today, i finally thought of what i could do w them- DIY stringed picture frame!

step 1: i took them off of my wall (duh). however, i couldn't figure out how to get the glass out until i realized that there are pieces of wood in the back that keep the glass from coming out. which leads us to the next step

step 2: grab some kind of tool that will allow you to push the wooden pieces out of the frame (in doing this, i discovered that there were nails so be careful if you ever do something like this)

step 3: take the wooden pieces & the glass panels out of the frames

step 4: hot glue some string across the back of the frame

step 5: (THIS IS IF YOU DON'T HAVE CLIPS ALREADY) get wire (& tools if you have them) & curl it into spiral shapes w a "hook" as shown below

step 6: attach spiral shaped wire onto the string & tighten the "hook" around the string to prevent the spirals from sliding/ moving around too much

step 7: attach polaroids/photos by sliding them btwn the curves of the spiral & hang the frames up

TA-DA! now i have cute little picture frames that i can use for my polaroids!

Think-SweetPea | i designed something??

guys i am excited. so i have this friend named Amalia & we go back- we met in middle school. well, recently she's started Think SweetPea! apparel company & i was so excited for her bc ever since i was young, i've always wanted to design/make clothes. so a while ago, we got to talking about me maybe designing something for her & i finally got off my lazy butt & sent her something.

she already has a "Black Excellence" collection on her website so i just wanted to start off w something that i thought would go along w her brand. i created a really simple but very stylized font for "BLM" (black lives matter). i dunno man, i just always get excited when anything i make gets out into the world. i actually do get profits from purchases of this design which is also very cool (if anyone likes the shirt but you know- still cool).

she has it in black & in white & you can check it out on think-sweetpea.com & follow the shop on twitter @ThinkSweetpeaCo.

"Design by @SamIzaweirdo. This super-soft, baby-knit t-shirt looks great on both men and women – it fits like a well-loved favorite. Made from 100% cotton, except for heather colors, which contain polyester.

first time: towne lake boardwalk

last night, i went to the Towne Lake boardwalk for the first time. i've heard of it before bc my friends have been there & allison's bought me coffee from Land Of A Thousand Hills Coffee Co. & Bakery before, but i had never been there before (even though it's so close to my school).

my mom's boss was having a dinner party at a restaurant at Towne Lake called Jaxton's Bistro & i knew i was going to want to take a bunch of pictures bc i've seen snapchats of Towne Lake & it seemed beautiful. so after dinner, my siblings & i walked around & had a little photoshoot.

i am so obsessed w how well these photos came out bc since i'm usually the one taking pictures of my friends, i hardly ever have any great pictures of myself. these photos are great & Towne Lake was great.

#ivoryella

(this has probably ended by now js)
recently, i was on twitter & saw ^this post. i've always wanted some ivory ella products so i decided to check it out. so i went on & saw these "boyfriend t-shirt hoodies" that were super cute & they were 50% off. usually they are $39 (+ shipping) but on that day, they were $19.99 (not including shipping). & since it was my first time on ivory ella, they sent me a 10% off code which would have made it $18. then i found a different promo code & it turned to $17. & the shipping was $7.49 which isn't the cheapest but i was like, okay, that's a pretty good deal compared to $39 (+ shipping) which would have been around $48. so i yolo'd & bought it. & it just came in the mail today.

when i was ordering my boyfriend t-shirt hoodie, i was debating btwn a purple & a sky blue one & ended up choosing sky blue. however, there was only a size medium, no smalls. but i like big shirts so i figured it would be fine. & when i opened the package, it was actually a lot bigger than i thought it would be, but at the same time i love it bc now it's like a dress & i could wear it w leggings.

honestly, i'm pretty happy w it bc it's big & comfy & the color is really nice. also, the little cards & stickers they send w the package are so cute i just love it all.

couldn't care more: a poem | savannah brown

momma-MEa

this morning, i was wrecking my closet to find something to wear in hot weather/cold buildings. that's the struggle of living in Texas- walking outside in the heat into the blasting A/C.

i found my mom's little plaid button-up so i tried it on w a white tank top & black jeans. then i realized i actually looked like a mom. gross.

so, i tried to sam-it-up a bit by switching to a black cropped (kind of?) tank top & slightly ripped skinny jeans. just bc i was wearing my mom's shirt didn't mean i couldn't make the look a bit edgier.

i threw on some clear lens hipster glasses bc i haven't worn them in a while & decided at the last minute that i needed a pop of color so i found the red matte lipstick my friend recently gave me.

blue plaid button-up (american eagle outfitters)
ripped skinny jeans (hollister)
black cropped tank top

sometimes i forget how much i enjoy putting together outfits- even if it's not super dressed up. it's always fun to find ways to spice up an outfit or a piece to make it more 'me.'

victoria secret purchases!

my mom always buys my stuff from victoria secret bc i don't usually like to go into the store but today, she bought some bras/bralettes for $10 & told me to go find some for myself.

if you shop at victoria secret, you'd know that when there's some kind of sale/special & you come late to the party, there isn't much left to choose from. however, i managed to snag a few cute pieces today.

forever 21 purchases!

i just came back from the mall w a cute new outfit from forever 21.

at forever 21, the jeans are usually $9.90. i'm not a fan of most of them but the black ones were pretty cute & i needed new black skinny jeans.

while helping my sister find new shirts, i found one for myself for $15.90. it's a cute, white, little button-up blouse w the words "leave me alone" stitched on over the front pocket which is so me.

together, the pieces make up a simple, but cute, outfit. separately, i could wear the blouse w any jeans & the jeans w almost every shirt i have. i'm pretty happy w today's purchases :)
