Boys Will Be Boys | #changethenarrative
i feel like this video is what i always try to explain to my parents, every time they tell me "girls shouldn't be out late," "don't sit like that, you're a girl," "is your friend a boy or a girl," "how are you going to cook for your future husband," etc.

Most Girls | Hailee Steinfeld
after the intro, i knew i was gonna love this song. guys always say "you're not like most girls" as if it's a compliment, as if it's a bad thing to be like most girls. no two girls are the same & i just love how this song emphasizes that it's actually great to be like "most girls."
(i also got ariana-grande/jump-in/selena-gomez vibes)

introducing: megan
hello hello hello! i never got to blogging about it, but i made a new friend this past semester. her name is megan & she seems to be my friend soulmate. we both love coffee, taking pictures of our coffee & food, tumblr, art, books, gilmore girls, angus thongs & perfect snogging, & much much more.
we went to towne lake boardwalk a while back to take some pictures as proof that we finally have friends so here are just a few:

body of work | ceramics
do you see all of these precious little ceramics pieces? these are my babies. the semester is finally over & i got most of my body of work back (excluding the ones that my school wanted to buy). my body of work was based off of 3 artists but for the most part, i just made a form & incised a henna-inspired design on it. here are some of my body of work & other pieces up close:

"intimacy" | a painting series
guess who finally finished her series painting for class? this girl! i just wanted to share this set of 3 painting w you guys bc i've been working on them for quite a while. so the idea was a series of 3 paintings. we looked at a couple of artists from art books & we got to choose who we wanted use as a starting point for our art. there were a lot of artists i liked & a lot of ideas but it was hard to choose.
i ended up choosing an artist named Shu-Wu Lin bc their style looked cool & it would be painting something out of my norm/comfort zone. the ideas that i wanted to incorporate into my work were the black background, monochromatic blue-ish purple color scheme, & the blur/fading out.
i struggled a lot at first bc 1. i've only ever done skin in skin tones & 2. it's hard to do a fading out/blur w acrylic paint. my idea was "intimacy," the little touches- the hand cupping the face, a finger tracing along the spine, & a hand on the thigh
