yes! omg. this is everything that i have been trying to convey about Meghan Trainor's song "All About That Bass"
as great of a message as the song could have been, i was disappointed hearing the way she regarded skinny people, as if they were somehow wrong for the way they looked/the way their bodies were. as a skinny person, i thought, you say "every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top" but followed it up with "boys like a little more booty to hold at night" & "I'm bringing booty back, go 'head and tell them skinny b*tches that."
- who says that skinny girls can't have a booty?
- who says that all guys want a girl bc of her booty?
- why did you have to say skinny b*tches?
- what's wrong w being skinny?
i mean, of course, i get where she's coming from, that she wanted to raise up bigger girls & help them be more confident, but why do skinny girls have to be knocked down in order for that to happen?
"every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top" should have been the main focus of the song but it seemed like the focus was more on "bringing booty back." i do believe it's hard enough to write a body positive song but i just wish that it could have applied more to all bodies, not just bigger bodies.
